Dr. Stewart was born and raised in Brewster, Kansas. After graduating as Valedictorian from Brewster High School, she went on to earn an Associates Degree in Biology along with the Outstanding Graduate of 1993 Award from Colby Community College. She was President of their Phi Theta Kappa Chapter and a Presidential Scholar. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from the University of Kansas in 1996 where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. During her time there, she earned the prestigious Hugh O’Brien Scholarship for women pursuing careers in bioscience. She also served as an ambassador to students making the transition from community college to four year universities. Dr. Stewart is a 2002 graduate from the University of Kansas School of Medicine where she helped pioneer the rural medicine program that is now based in Salina. Dr. Stewart completed her residency at UKSM-W Smoky Hill Family Practice Residency, Salina, Kansas in 2005 in Family Medicine and earned a Behavioral Science Award. She has been Board Certified since 2005.
Dr. Stewart practiced as a partner of Bluestem Medical in Quinter, KS for 13 years before joining Sheridan County Health Complex in December 2017.
Dr. Stewart is married to Justin, who farms with his father. Much of their land is located near Castle Rock. She is mother to three young daughters, Josie, Jorgen and Joya. In her free time she enjoys reading, restoring old furniture, gardening, exploring the local landmarks and history, playing piano and being a mom.
